Comprehensive health insurance for foreigners is provided for those foreign citizens who wish to stay in the Czech Republic for at least 90 days and apply for a long-term visa or long-term residence permit, or for an extension of a visa or residence permit. This insurance coverage is required if an application for a visa or visa or residence permit extension is submitted in the Czech Republic.
Comprehensive medical care is provided by medical institutions of the Czech Republic, contracted on a contractual basis. The coverage for necessary and urgent assistance is also valid during the stay of the insured person in the Schengen area outside the Czech Republic, and the allowable duration of each such stay is up to 30 days.
The insurance coverage includes
- outpatient care
- inpatient medical care, including diagnostic, preventive, and dispensary treatment
- emergency assistance and rescue services
- transportation of the patient and provision of medicines prescribed on an outpatient basis
- repatriation of the insured person or his remains
- medical support of pregnancy and childbirth
The insurance does not cover the “administration fee” charged to the insured person at the medical facility.
Insurance coverage options:
STANDARD – comprehensive medical care.
MATERNAL – the entire scope of comprehensive STANDARD medical care plus postpartum care for an infant born to the insured person. The insurance does not cover the “administration fee” charged to the insured person at the medical facility.
